WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
We traveled to a place in Catalonia located in the Conca del Barbera, known for its vineyards and rolling countryside at the foot of the Sierra de Prades. It is a journey of just over half an hour, near the walled village of Montblanc, famous for the legend of Sant Jordi, which we propose to visit as an option.
The Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet is the most important monastery of the Cistercian Route and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It continues to have a clerical life with about 25 monks.
The visit begins with an audiovisual journey through history and spiritual life in the visitor center. The audio guide will then lead us through the rooms and monuments surrounding the cloister, the heart of our visit. This visit can be done at your own pace.
From the cloister you can access the monks’ dormitory, the kitchen, the refectory, the scriptorum or library, and the church with the Royal Pantheon where the remains of Aragonese and Catalan kings and counts such as James I the Conqueror and Peter IV the Ceremonious rest.
This visit, as it has been proposed, awakens in more than one person emotions and spiritual search. To complete this visit we propose as an option a walk behind the monastery called the itinerary of silence, with various meditation exercises, and ending with a panoramic view of the grounds of the monastery of Poblet. like
